SENECA RIVER

The Seneca River joins Seneca and Cayuga lakes at their northern ends near the Montezuma Swap. The Seneca River also links to the N.Y. State Barge Canal system which allows boaters to travel across the state.

The Seneca River is home to some of the best fishing for bass and northern pike. The river has a slow current with a lot of low hanging branches that provide shade and cover for predators. The river also has an abundance of forage with leads to some big fish.

Fishing

The Seneca River is incredible fishery that is often over looked and under rated.  The river produces fish from early spring to late in the winter.  Largemouth and smallmouth bass have access to deep pools, rocky banks, lay downs, and shallow weedy slack water.  Anglers enjoy reaction bites in the spring, topwater blow ups on weed mats in the summer, and bottom bouncing presentations throughout the fall into winter.  The Seneca River has excellent access points and is a great option when the wind makes the lakes too rough.
